Echolalia and Scripted Speech Transformation
At KITES Child Development Centre, we support children who use echolalia (repeating words or phrases) or scripted speech by guiding them toward more functional and spontaneous communication. Echolalia can be an important developmental stage, especially for gestalt language processors, and with the right support, it can evolve into flexible language use.
Our therapists use mitigated echolalia modeling, Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) strategies, and gestalt language processing frameworks to help children move from repeating scripts to generating original, meaningful phrases. Therapy focuses on building comprehension, expanding early scripts into personalized language, and teaching children how to adapt their communication across different social contexts.
Through a supportive, play-based, and individualized approach, we help transform repetitive speech into purposeful, creative self-expression — empowering children to connect more authentically with the world around them.
